Sustainable Interior Styling with Susannah Hemmings Part 1

Susannah Hemmings is an Interior Stylist in Surrey; with a penchant for monochrome. She very kindly welcomed Zulucow into her beautiful Victorian home to give us an interiors’ masterclass on styling our unique, sustainable, cowhide cushions and rugs. I was particularly keen to work with Susannah when I discovered that she strives to use sustainable interiors when decorating her house. As all Zulucow’s Nguni rugs are natural and sustainable; (as are our finely-crafted, handmade cushions,) we were a natural fit!

In this, the first part of the series, Susannah explains her choice of mocha cowhide rug for her pool room. At first she didn’t think this hide would work; but she changed her mind as she thought the darker points of this tri colour hide would blend in nicely with her dark furniture, and the lighter ‘ caramel’ flash down the middle of the hide, would give a lovely contrast and compliment her walls.

Keep an eye for the next part of this styling series. In Part II, Susannah reveals her tips for styling our sustainable cowhide rugs as ‘throws’ on sofas.
